“IT ISN’T THE MOON” is a death-defying roller-coaster ride thinly disguised as a well-made play that capriciously pits two educated and otherwise beautiful women against each other in what can only be termed a heavy weight championship of the mind. One is a therapist who is so ferociously busy with surviving the bout that we never even learn her name. The other is a Machiavellian marauder whose brother called her Cassie before he violently disappeared from the face of her earth. Cassie is an avenging angel come to the unsuspecting therapist’s office to methodically wear down another human’s power of reason before any more visions of her family insist on regaining her attention.
This she does for sport.
It is assassination by wit.
Denial by diversion.
Triumph by any means available.
Manipulation in its most primitive state.
It’s war.
It is also the reason to go to the theatre.
