Mimi LeDuck has encountered a LeDelay. (Le Scandal!) This is due to “unexpected delays in technical rehearsal”, which could mean anything. We blame everyone EXCEPT Eartha Kitt, cuz, well, she was Catwoman. Couldn’t be her fault. (Unless she ate the duck! [rim shot] You know, because cats… eat… ducks… Is this thing on?)

Mimi le Duck Postpones First Preview

Wednesday, October 11 — Due to unexpected delays in technical rehearsal, the first preview of the off-Broadway musical Mimi le Duck has been postponed — the production is now scheduled to begin performances tomorrow, Thursday, October 12 at 8:00pm. Opening night remains Tuesday, October 31. Ticket holders for tonight’s performance will be offered a full refund or the opportunity to reschedule to another available performance. Mimi le Duck is being performed at New World Stages (340 West 50th street).

“The Paris that’s been created by our Tony Award-winning design team is more elaborate than the typical off-Broadway show and our technical rehearsals took longer than expected,” explained general manager Carol Fishman. “In order to ensure that the audience sees the beautiful world that our designers intended, we needed to iron out a few final technical concerns. The cast looks forward to sharing Mimi’s journey with the audience at tomorrow night’s first performance.”

The production features Candy Buckley, Robert DuSold, Allen Fitzpatrick, Annie Golden, Ken Jennings, Marcus Neville, and Eartha Kitt. Directed by Thomas Caruso, Mimi le Duck has book and lyrics by Diana Hansen-Young, music by Brian Feinstein, and musical staging by Matt West (Beauty and the Beast).

The new musical Mimi le Duck follows Miriam (Annie Golden), a discontented Mormon housewife from Ketchum, Idaho, who, in a moment of desperately crazy inspiration, packs her bags and moves to Paris, leaving behind her husband and her successful career as a painter of duck canvases for the QVC Network. Thus unfolds Mimi le Duck, a musical as whimsical and unique as the city of Paris, populated by romance and intrigue, gypsy pickpockets, over-the-hill torch singers, and that ever-elusive spark that gives us the guts to change our lives.

All audience members at preview performances will receive a free Demo CD of songs from the show. There will also be post-performance talk-backs with members of the creative team held on Monday, October 16 and Sunday, October 22, immediately following the evening performances.

Mimi le Duck has scenic design by Tony Award-winner John Arnone; costume design by Tony Award-winner Ann Hould-Ward; lighting design by David Lander; and sounds design by Tony Smolenski IV and WALTER TRARBACH. The production’s Musical Supervisor and Orchestrator is Chris Fenwick.

Mimi le Duck will be performed on the following schedule at New World Stages (340 West 50th street): Monday, Wednesday – Friday at 8:00pm, Saturday at 2:00pm and 8:00pm, and Sunday at 3:00pm and 7:00pm. Tickets, priced $45 – $70, can be purchased by calling TELE-CHARGE at (212) 239-6200.
