MY LIFE AS YOU

It’s not quite as catchy a title as My Life as a Dog, but it is set in 1998, which is, like, almost ten years ago. Plus the press release promises that ‘Self-Discovery Is Only A Plane Ride Away’. As if you didn’t know that already. Read below for more info on this new romantic comedy which stars Jeff Branson of “All My Children” (you know whether or not that’s important to you).

Self-Discovery Is Only A Plane Ride Away in MY LIFE AS YOU
A New Romantic Comedy by Laura Rohrman

Featuring Jeff Branson of “All My Children” at the Producers Club II

Starting September 14th

Finding oneself becomes key in Laura Rohrman’s hilarious new comedy MY LIFE AS YOU, directed by Emmy-nominated Fritz Brekeller and featuring Jeff Branson of “All My Children.” Having just finished a triumphant inaugural run at the Producers Club Theatre, the show will move to the Producers Club II, located at 619 Ninth Avenue (between 43rd and 44th Streets) for 10 additional performances, beginning September 14th. With echoes of “The Mary Tyler Moore Show,” “The Heidi Chronicles,” and “Sex and the City,” the play takes a close and humorous look at obsessive female friendships and the pain and relief of breaking up. The show is being presented by the Waverly Writers Collective and Frendz Productions.

Set in 1998, with the Monica Lewinsky scandal as a backdrop, Stella and Diana are two confused women on the cusp of change. In an attempt to figure out who they are and what they want, they will do anything and everything, from moving around the country on a whim to stealing each other’s boyfriends, and attempt to become someone they are not – all to find a little happiness. A psychological comedy that examines obsessive female friendships, love, sex and how to survive your twenties intact.

The cast of MY LIFE AS YOU features Jeff Branson, Ashley Wren Collins,* Stuart Lopoten and Kelli Porterfield. The production is an Equity Approved Showcase.

Jeff Branson currently plays Jonathan Lavery on ABC’s “All My Children.” In addition to several film and television roles, he has also starred in the Off-Broadway productions Cooper Savage and Sum Touching. Branson received a Daytime Emmy nomination in 2005.

Laura Rohrman’s previous plays include Reporter Girl, about the life of her grandmother, Dale Messick, creator of the comic strip, “Brenda Starr, Reporter.” Laura has been an O’Neill Playwriting Conference semi-finalist, a Weissberger Award nominee and a two-time finalist in the Samuel French Short Play Festival. MY LIFE AS YOU was a Playwrights First Award finalist in 2005.

Fritz Brekeller has worked in theatre and directing for television for over 15 years. He has worked at every major daytime television soap opera, for which he has received several Emmy and DGA nominations.
